Marafiq is a joint venture utilities company with shareholders from OQ (Oman's leading energy company) and Gulf Energy Development (GED) which is a leading power and water utilities company that is based in Thailand. For its key projects execution and implementation, Marafiq has established the Duqm Power Company S.P.C. (DPC), a 100% owned subsidiary of Marafiq.
Marafiq Shareholders‘ Structure
Duqm Power Company SPC (DPC), a 100% owned subsidiary of Marafiq, was established to execute the Duqm Integrated Power and Water Plant (DIPWP) and 132 KV Power Transmission System to Raz Markaz (132 KV RMT) projects to supply two major key developments in Duqm with utility requirements. DIPWP project will supply power and water utilities to Duqm Refinery (OQ8), on a captive basis. The 132 KV RMT project will supply Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO) with power utilities.
Profile
Marafiq has signed a Centralized Utilities Service Agreement (CUSA) with the Public Authority of Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). The agreement grants Marafiq exclusive rights to generate, transmit, distribute, and supply a suite of utilities in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm over a twenty-five (25) years period. The utilities services include: Power, Water, Steam, Waste Management, Industrial Gases and Others.
Marafiq Business Overview
Based on the agreement signed, Marafiq is responsible to develop a one-stop-shop with a range of utilities’ services to investors in Duqm Industrial Zone. Through the one-stop-shop, Marafiq facilitates the investments in the Duqm Zone by securing utilities’ supply, reducing investment CAPEX and operational costs and consequently allowing investors to focus on their core business development.
