Marafiq has acquired a 25 year license (the "Potable Water License (PWL)from the Public Authority of Water (previously), granting Marafiq the rights to supply Potable Water in the Special Economic Zone of Duqm. Marafiq is responsible for the entire potable water value chain, within SEZ-D, including: Production, Transmission, Distribution, Customer Service, Billing and Collection.
Potable Water Value Chain
Marafiq manages the entire Potable Water network in Duqm under the PWL, supplying water to domestic, commercial and industrial customers. Marafiq has almost tripled the water production capacity in the zone serving approximately 1,300 customers; and expanded the water storage capacity and setting up a tanker filing station serving an additional 250 registered tankers.
In order to facilitate new connection requirements and day-to-day customer relations, Marafiq has established a customer service office. The company plans to further develop the water sector by:
- installing additional water plants
- expanding the existing potable water distribution network
- introducing the latest technology solutions for customer care.
Additionally; Marafiq is currently developing a waste water master plan, to integrate the potable water and waste water systems in Duqm. Marafiq has engaged an international consultant to develop the master plan and identify priority areas for development in collaboration with SEZ-Duqm. Marafiq continually monitors the demand and the requirements for all other utilities in the Duqm zone.
